asuka was actually revealed in xrd story mode not strive. if you play the story mode in all the xx versions that man was COMPLETELY different than asuka. like everything about him is different, it makes no sense it's the same person lol. not even remotely the same voice or cadence while talking.

For those who might not know, but also easy to see the connection between Guilty Gear and the Japanese thrash metal band Outrage, given that’s where the anti-gear super weapon that Sol developed is named after. The font logo of GGX is exactly the same as the band’s debut EP with Naoki Hashimoto, who we all know would eventually become synonymous with Guilty Gear songs starting with Vastedge which had an anime opening too. They’re a kick ass band by the way.

3:58 It probably used to be Asuka, however as the series went on and That Man started to get characterized more, that scene didn't really fit Asuka as a character in Xrd/Strive so Strive then retconned that scene as Happy Chaos was the one who killed Baiken's parents using the That Man name at the time... Guilty Gear until XX had "Bastard!!" vibes, from Xrd and beyond, it went for "Trigun" style. Both are good, but c'mon, if I was into a story and it changed that much, I'd be really confused and a bit disappointed.

I remember in like 2004 or something like that my sister's boyfriend (now husband) visited us for the first time and he brought over his copy of Guilty Gear on the PS2. I can't remember which version it was but it had this movie on it. It was my first fighting game experience and I instantly gravitated to Faust due to his wackiness and voice acting. Then I heard that "the doctor is in" line and I was just like wtf is this. I was also disappointed by the That Man reveal being Asuka in Strive. Edit: Now that I think about it it might have been XX#R and maybe I found this movie later or something, I honestly can't remember since it was like 15 - 20 years ago now lmao. 10/10 intro movie though literally could not be any better.
